Henri Kagan, Kenso Soai bag 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry

The Prize has been awarded 'for the discovery of non-linear effects and autocatalysis in asymmetric organic synthesis'.

The 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry has been awarded to Henri Kagan and Kenso Soai “for the discovery of non-linear effects and autocatalysis in asymmetric organic synthesis.”

Kagan is associated with the Paris-Sud University in France and Soai is associated with the Tokyo University in Japan.

The Chemistry Nobel is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm, Sweden. The prize has been awarded 117 times since 1901.

Wednesday's prize is followed by the Literature Nobel on Thursday.

After Friday's peace prize is awarded, the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences will be announced on October 12.

The prize money this year is 12 million Swedish kronor (about $1.2 million).
